Periodontal Disease Toomin & Bieber Aesthetic Comprehensive Dentistry CA 91505Most people want to avoid visiting the dentist, even when they have serious dental issues, but you shouldn't cancel or stop your regular checkups if you want to be able to reverse more serious conditions.

It is possible to reverse the most common oral health problems.

Periodontal Disease

Periodontal disease is a condition that results in gum recession, where your gums are not longer able to support the teeth.

This is not something you should ignore because with proper treatment, we can repair the gums and prevent further damage, such as tooth loss. There are options available, even for advance periodontal disease, but don't wait to call our office.

Some early signs of gum disease that you should be aware of are, red or swollen gums, bleeding after brushing or flossing, bad breath, tartar or plaque buildup.

Tooth Decay

While you still have enamel left on your teeth, it can be repaired. With adequate care and treatment, tooth decay can be reversed and stopped. Enamel is extremely durable, but once it's weakened or destroyed because of decay, other problems will arise.

The cavity is the beginning of potentially serious tooth decay, so make an appointment today to take care of that toothache.

There are some things you can do to prevent or reverse oral health problems. Stay hydrated because a dry mouth is a breeding ground for bacteria growth. Keep your routine checkups so we can monitor any new dental issues.

Eliminate sugary foods from your diet, and eat more fruits and vegetables, whole grains, and dairy, especially cheese. Eat apples or other foods that work as a detergent in the mouth.

The best way to prevent oral health problems is to have good hygiene habits at home by brushing twice daily and flossing at least once daily. Call us today for more information!
