Ray Abruzzo

Ray was born and raised in Queens, New York. After college he moved to Los Angeles to pursue his dream of becoming an actor. It is in LA where he rose to fame in television. Ray is best known for his roles in "LA Law," "Dynasty," "NYPD Blue," "Touched By An Angel," Doogie Howser M.D.," "The Practice," and most notably "The Sopranos."

Ray remains active in local Los Angeles theatre as both an actor and director at The Playwright's Kitchen Ensemble.

John Proulx

John Proulx (pronounced "Proo"), has been a patient of Dr. Bieber's since 2003. Originally from Grand Rapids, Michigan, John received his Bachelor's of Music from Roosevelt University in Chicago, IL. In 2001, John moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in music. Since then, John has become a sought-after jazz pianist, vocalist, recording artist, and Grammy-winning composer. John's debut CD, "Moon and Sand" was released on the Max Jazz label on August 1st, 2006. It has received glowing reviews, and even earned him an opportunity to be a guest on the Marian McPartland Piano Jazz radio program on NPR. John is also quickly establishing himself as a prolific composer. Legendary jazz singer, Nancy Wilson, recently recorded, "These Golden Years", a song co-written with lyricist D. Channsin Berry, on her latest CD, "Turned to Blue", on the MCG label. She just received a Grammy for "Best Jazz Vocal Album" at the 49th Annual Grammy Awards. For more than three years, Adrienne has taught her independent workshops in public speaking and strategic planning as an adult educator at the Culver City Adult School throughout the year. Adrienne’s public speaking and training experience is supported by her background in television broadcast journalism. She has experience in the field of television broadcast journalism, and has worked at the FOX and ABC affiliates in Richmond, VA. She currently produces and hosts the Time Warner public access television community affairs talk show, “Absolutely Adrienne,” in Los Angeles.

A graduate of the University of Virginia, Adrienne earned her B.A. in rhetoric and communications studies in 1994. She earned a full academic scholarship (the University Achievement Award) and the Philip Morris academic scholarship. She is currently an active member of the University of Virginia Alumni Association, and continues to mentor UVA and local Los Angeles students. Adrienne serves on the Vestry of St. James’ Episcopal Church in Los Angeles, and is a proud member of international service sorority, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

Lauren Jacobsen

Toluca Lake, California resident, Lauren Jacobsen, has won the UCI Track Cycling Masters World Championships and set a new world record. Representing the USA and racing for cycling team NOW MS Society, Lauren won the gold medal in the women’s age 50-54 500 meter Time Trial on October 16th, at the Dunc Gray Velodrome in Sydney Australia. Lauren set a new world record of 39.704 beating the former world record of 40.202 set in Colorado Springs in 2002. At 52 years old, Lauren, is the first woman in this division to ever break the 40-second mark. Her record setting time was almost a second and a half faster than Donna Smith, the current USA Nationa1 Champion and silver medalist at the World Championships. Jacobsen started cycling a short 3 years ago, where cycling coach Antony Galvan, identified Jacobsen as having potential as a sprinter.

Galvan worked with Jacobsen from May to October in preparation for the title. When she is not racing her bike in circles, Lauren Jacobsen is a residential interior designer in Los Angeles.

Paul Salamunovich

Paul Salamunovich has conducted the all-volunteer St. Charles Borromeo Choir for the last fifty-eight years.  The Choir has performed with the Los Angeles Master Chorale on many occasions and, in 1973, was featured on the NBC Christmas Eve Special with Doc Severinson and Henry Mancini.  They have since recorded for numerous motion pictures and television shows including True Confessions, Flatliners, ER and Cirque de Soleil’s Journey of Man.

The Choir has been invited by the American Choral Directors Association to perform at three of its National Conventions:  1981 in New Orleans, 1991 in Phoenix and 2003 in New York.  They made their third appearance at an ACDA Western Division Convention in February 2002 (Honolulu), having also performed in San Diego (1974) and Sacramento (1994).

In June of 1985, by invitation of the Papal Church Music Society, the Choir toured Europe in conjunction with the 8th International convention of Sacred Music, the high point being a private audience at which the Choir sang for Pope John Paul II in Clementine Hall in the Vatican Palace.  On September 15, 1987, the Choir sang at the Diplomatic Reception/Prayer Service for Pope John Paul II at St. Vibiana’s Cathedral, officially welcoming him to Los Angeles and, on June29th, 1988, they sang Mass at St. Peter’s in Rome for the Feast of Sts. Peter and Paul, with the Pope presiding.  This occasion marked one of only four times a group other than the Sistine Choir has been afforded this honor and the St. Charles Choir is the only American choir ever invited.

Paul Salamunovich has been the Music Director at St. Charles Borromeo Church in North Hollywood 1949.  He has long been recognized for his contributions to the field of sacred music and was honored by the Vatican in 1969 with a Papal Knighthood in the Order of St. Gregory.

In April 2001, Salamunovich was named Music Director Emeritus of the Los Angeles Master Chorale, capping his ten-year term as its Director and marking the culmination of a lifetime association with both the Chorale and its founder, Roger Wagner.  Paul was a Charter Member of the organization and was, for twenty-four years, Assistant Conductor of both the Roger Wagner and the Los Angeles Master Chorales.  In 1998 Paul and the Master Chorale received a Grammy nomination for the “Best Choral Performance” for their recording of music of Lauridsen – Lux Aeterna.  This overwhelmingly successful recording is still being heard all over the world.

Salamunovich has also earned national and international attention as an esteemed conductor and educator.  As a music educator, he began his teaching career at Mount St. Mary’s College in 1957, while still a student himself.  Paul joined the part-time faculty of Loyola University in 1964; he became a full-time member in 1973 and remained on the faculty as Director of Choral Activities at what is now Loyola Marymount University for twenty-seven years, being promoted to the rank of Full Professor in 1980 and awarded an honorary doctorate and Professor Emeritus status in 1993.

During his career, Paul has conducted clinics and festivals throughout the United States, Canada, the Bahamas, South America, Europe, Australia and the Far East.  He has also conducted at an unprecedented four consecutive ACDA National Conventions: with the LMU Men’s Chorus in 1987, their Women’s Chorus in 1989, the St. Charles Borromeo choir in 1991 and the L.A. Master Chorale in 1993.  In November 2003 Paul conducted the St. Petersburg Philharmonic of Russia along with the Master Chorale of the USA in the Mozart Requiem at the Basilica of St. John Lateran in Rome for the concluding concert of the 2nd annual Festival Internazionale di Musica e Arte Sacra.

Salamunovich has been responsible for choral music in numerous feature films and television productions.  These projects include such films as First Knight, Air Force One, Sum of All Fears, Steven Spielberg’s A.I. and Sony’s XXX.  By invitation of the University of Southern California, Paul is the Interim Director of the USC Chamber Singers for the 2007-2008 Season.

Todd Sherry

Todd Sherry is an actor and casting associate in Hollywood, CA. As an actor, he has appeared in numerous TV shows and films including Will & Grace, Desperate Housewives, Joan of Arcadia, Half & Half, The O.C., The Nine, Ghost Whisperer, Miss Congeniality 2, and the 2008 release Get Smart. He played one of the leads in the independent feature film Hiding Victoria opposite another patient of Dr. Toomin's, Michael Wiseman.

As a casting associate with Patrick Rush Casting, Todd has helped cast such shows as Chuck, Men in Trees, The O.C., Everwood, Jack & Bobby, and Supernatural.

Originally from a small town in Pennsylvania, he first moved to NYC where he pursued a career in musical theatre. Todd played such roles as Joseph in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Lancelot in Camelot, and his favorite role, Seymour in Little Shop of Horrors which he played in three separate productions including the U.S. and Canadian tour. A world cruise featuring him as a vocalist eventually brought him to Los Angeles where he has lived since 1996.

Rabbi Janet Bieber

Rabbi Janet Bieber has served the Southern California Jewish Community as an educator, chaplain, counselor and Cantor for over 25 years. In 2005 she received Rabbinic Smicha from the Academy for Jewish Religion.  For six years she served at the Jewish Home for the Aging in San Diego as Rabbi, Cantor and Administrator of all Jewish programs and religious services.

Rabbi Janet holds a Masters degree in Jewish Education from the University of Judaism and has taught over 400 children and adult B’nei mitzvah privately and in classes.  She has performed numerous concerts in Hebrew and English, with Yiddish Songs as her specialty. She is currently working on integrating English into the Yiddish text to preserve the sound of the Yiddish while making it accessible to everyone.  Her most recent CD, “Kol Isha: The Voice of a Jewish Woman,” contains music in Hebrew Yiddish and English and includes two original compositions.

Rabbi Janet is currently the Director of Religious Education at Temple Emanu El in Burbank.

Jonathan “Legacy” Perez

B-Boy, Dancer, Choreographer, Director, Dance Instructor

Jonathan Lee Perez, aka Legacy, was born in Brooklyn, New York. At the age of four, he moved to Miami, Florida. Mentored by his father as a young teen, Legacy excelled in soccer and received a scholarship. Unfortunately, due to an injury, his dream of pursuing a career in soccer was cut short. At fifteen, he was exposed to breaking (B-Boying) at a skating rink called “Hotwheels”, where he learned that breaking came to him naturally; and where he acquired his name “Legacy”.

Legacy’s first dance job was in 1998 at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Museum, which led to a contract at Universal Studios Florida. In 2004, Legacy moved to Los Angeles with $240 in his pocket and a dream to show his talent in music videos, commercials, and movies.

In the few years Legacy has been in L.A., he has accumulated an impressive resume. His highlights include a featured role in “Stomp the Yard” and two world tours with Gwen Stefani in 2005 and 2007. He has worked with many top choreographers, including Jamal, Rich and Tone, Tina Landon, Dave Scott, and Sho-Tyme. Among other things, Legacy has appeared on the Vans Warped Tour w/ The Black Eyed Peas, the Lady of Soul Awards w/ Toni Braxton, The Video Game Awards w/ Method Man & Redman, the Latin Grammy’s with Roselyn Sanchez, the MTV Movie Awards with Lindsey Lohan, The Grammy Awards with Rhianna & The Time, performances with Chris Brown, Christina Aguilera’s “Candyman” video and Janet Jackson’s “Rock With U” and is currently working on Chris Brown’s next music video.

Known for his acrobatic movement, distinguished for his individuality and drive, Legacy aspires to become a choreographer and director. He appreciates all the support he has received throughout the years and hopes to return it on a bigger scale. In the summer of 2008, Legacy’s first instructional hip-hop/break dance video entitled “Let’s Break” will be available in stores!
