Periodontal Care
Periodontal disease, also known as gum disease, can destroy a beautiful smile and contribute to overall health problems. Gum disease is caused by a large buildup of the bacteria found in plaque, which erode the soft tissues of the mouth. The early stages of gingivitis are often associated with red, puffy, bleeding gum tissue, and quite often affect young adults, as well as older patients. Teenage gingivitis is growing at alarming rates. If detected in the early stages, gum disease can often be reversed. When gingivitis escalates into periodontitis, tooth loss, degeneration of soft tissue, and bone deterioration can occur. However, even in these advanced stages, gum disease can be stopped, eradicated, and reversed. Dr. Toomin and Dr. Bieber offer periodontal care in their Burbank dentist office, including:
- Charting and Diagnosis
- Deep Pocket Cleaning
- Antibiotic Treatment
- Scaling and Root Planing
- Splinting
- Gum Surgery
