Types Of Fluoride Treatments

This makes the enamel weak, increasing the chances of oral issues. However, this does not always indicate the likelihood of severe tooth damage or infections.

You can remineralize your teeth by adding essential minerals. Fluoride treatment is one way to strengthen your teeth and lower the risk of cavities. While many types of toothpaste and mouthwash contain fluoride, professional fluoride treatments are more effective. Here are 3 types of fluoride treatments:

Fluoride Varnish

Fluoride varnish works well for children or anyone at risk of cavities. This preventative treatment makes the enamel strong, lowering the chances of decay. During the procedure, a professional applies a small amount of fluoride on the patient's tooth surface. The dentist may advise you to leave the fluoride on the tooth for several hours to allow it to seep into the tooth enamel.

Foam Fluoride Treatment

Fluoride treatments are also available in the form of foam. The procedure involves dispensing fluoride solution into a custom tray and inserting it into the mouth. The foam should sit in the mouth for a few minutes to allow it to coat the teeth and get into all areas of the mouth, including the gums.

Gel Fluoride Treatment

Gel fluoride works the same as varnish and foam.

Their main goal is to reverse early tooth decay, remineralize the tooth, and slow down demineralization. Gel fluoride treatment involves applying the gel directly on the tooth surface or squeezing it into custom trays. After the treatment, the professional may advise you not to eat or drink anything.

You may also need to avoid rinsing or brushing your mouth. This ensures good fluoride retention. Do you suspect early signs of cavities? If yes, fluoride treatment can help to reverse the issue. Contact us, and our professionals will determine the right fluoride treatment for your needs.
