Teeth Whitening

Many people are not happy with the whiteness of their teeth. Our teeth whitening systems are designed to brighten your smile in a way that is easy and convenient for you.

Why are my teeth not white?

There are many factors that contribute to having yellowed teeth. Some of the more common are:
•  Smoking: Most people know this, but it needs to be said.
•  Flourosis: If flouride is used excessively during tooth development.
•  Age: Normal wear and tear on your teeth can cause them to yellow.
•  Genetics: Sometimes it's in your genes. Look at mom & dad and see if their teeth are yellow.
•  Medications: Some medications can cause your teeth to become stained (tetracycline, etc.).
•  Coffee & Tea: Look at the bottom of a coffee mug or Teacup. That is what is happening to your teeth.
•  Wine: You gasp whenever wine is spilled on anything. You run the same risk with your teeth.

Taking good care of your teeth can reduce the yellowing, but eventually your teeth will become more yellow. The more you engage in the activities above the faster your teeth will yellow.

Whitening Your Teeth

Fortunately your teeth can be whitened. The enamel that covers your teeth can be treated with non-invasive chemicals to become less yellow.

Before and After Image

First Visit

We take impressions (molds) of your teeth so we can make custom whitening trays fitted to your mouth.

Second Visit

You will try on the trays to make sure they are a good fit. If no adjustments are needed you will take them home with the whitening solution.

At Home Teeth Whitening

The at home whitening trays should be worn 30 minutes at a time or overnight using the whitening solution. The length of time and frequency which you wear the trays depends upon how much whitening you require, your availability and comfort levels.

Other Dental Work

We make sure that all teeth whitening is done before we do other dental treatments. This makes sure that composite fillings, bridges and crowns will match the newly whitened teeth. Also old dental work should be evaluated in case it should be replaced and matched with your whiter teeth.

Is tooth whitening permanent?

You still age and your teeth still go through wear and tear. So no, tooth whitening is not permanent. Luckily when you come to the office for your regular dental checkups we can talk about if a whitening is needed.

Respected As A Patient

I continue to be impressed with every aspect of dental care and service at your office. Everyone is wonderful and makes me feel important, valued, and respected as a patient; everything is explained in detail.
